We've lived here almost 35 years.. before that we spent a short time (7 years) outside of Detroit.. The neighbors across the street were our very best friends.. Their 2 oldest were the same age as our boys and they had a new little baby girl..Always exchanged Christmas cards and for awhile vacationed together after we moved.. One was a wonderful week at the beach (Outer Banks) and one the most disasterous and fun times I've ever had. A week with the 9 of us in a Winnabago heading for the Banks again... Some of it I've blocked forever from my memory, but some still so vivid after all these years! Lets see.. a short list of the disasters.. Leaving our dirt driveway, hit a bump and the tv rolled off the counter and smashed.. Driving thru a little town in Va.. got too close to the light poles and ripped the mirror and all the trim off the side of the camper.. Getting to Washington in 100 degree heat and the AC failing (we'd failed to switch something).. Their son getting pneumonia and parking all day at the emergency room someplace..(again no AC). Huddled in the camper at night at the KOA cause she and I thought the people all looked so scary !?! Really??? Finally getting to the end of the earth..Avon, NC.. gorgeous wild beach. The moldy public shower room with something unmentionable on the shower floor!! Kids camped out in a tent and a HUGE wind storm came thru and blew everything away!! We were picking up tent pieces and our stuff for days :=) Going down, we were leaving the campground, ran into a ditch and knocked some cap off the back bumper.. Returning home we stopped in the same campground and there was the cap.. still lying in the ditch.. Again.. really??
Where this is leading is we didn't get a Christmas card from them.. to me thats bad news, so finally worked up the courage to call them.. They're all fine!! Were on a cruise last year and didn't send out cards. They're all on facebook now and we've been exchanging pictures of kids and family.. What a treat!! Facebook does serve a purpose..
