Last fall, I was wondering what I could do (cheaply!!) for everyone at Christmas.. So started to knit stuff.. I was hoping folks would say "oh, isn't this cute and knitted by her 70 year-old arthritic hands!!) The arthritis thing didn't work, but everyone said how much they liked the gifts anyway... For the golfers, I made those wood covers with numbers.. Made them in variously appropiate school colors.. Printed the free pattern from Lion Brand Yarns site.. Having always paid money for patterns, it amazes me you can get that stuff free!! Made some knit winter hats and real pretty scarves.. also free patterns. After the holidays, had tons of yarn left over , so made myself a sweater, pictured, and in the middle of a vest for spring golfing.. I refuse to buy more yarn, so the vest is a bit of a mish-mash..
Still living with mud.. we had torrential rains and thunder all last night, signs of spring :=) In St Louis, those storms moved thru, and as of today, my daughter and A still have no power. She missed the storms cause she flew to Little Rock for a class this week... and she had earthquakes there!!! What's going on???
Wow! That's really pretty!! I keep telling myself that I'm going to learn to knit! My oldest daughter knits and I keep begging her for a sweater but to no avail. One of these days though I will just sit down and figure it all out myself. I dream of making knitted things for my dear ones too. Life is just too full right now to add another project to it. But I can enjoy your accomplishment!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI think I've known how to knit since I was a kid.. My Mom knit all the time.. My daughter-in-law wanted to learn and I tried to teach her until I figured out she was left-handed!! That was totally impossible!! So, she learned by getting instructions on-line, and she's doing real well.. So, that might be a way for you to learn.. Good Luck!
